WE ARE PAUSING ALL SERVICES IN CONFLICT WITH THE STATE OF BARBERING AND COSMETOLOGY. SPA-GO’S WILL ONLY BE PROVIDING DIRECT PLACEMENT OF CONTRACTED MASSAGE THERAPISTS AT THIS TIME AND WE HOPE TO RESOLVE THIS LEGALLY SOON SO THAT THE MANY BEAUTIFUL PROVIDERS OF LICENSED CARE’S INCOMES ARE NOT EFFECTED FOR LONG. IT IS EASIER TO CARRY A CONCEALED WEAPON IN THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA THAN IT IS TO CARRY A NAIL FILE, CURLING IRON, FACIAL SPONGE OR MAKE-UP BRUSH. 2019
Due to new information and conflict with the State of California Board and Barbering rules – we have hired counsel to address this for us and are waiting a final decision.
Mobile salons are growing in number, last counted over 3,000 businesses and contracting thousands of salon workers. I was told by my past attorney that we were able to provide licensed workers due to a right to work constitutional provision, as well as not discriminating against the elderly or American’s with Disability Act. Because this has come into question, yet again, we will be pausing our services.
We feel awful pausing the income as well to our workers, who are all minority low income workers who have gone above and beyond to get an education, a license and insurance in the field that the State of California helped pay for. Tethering these workers to a brick and mortar salon is unfair, we believe, and unconstitutional. We believe disparate impact cannot be ignored and hope that our new counsel, a man with an exceptionally high intelligence and will guide us in the correct position for future.
All services performed from this date forward will be pampered care – massage based and fantastically pampering! We will be setting up a go fund me page for our staff to help with their loss of income and contracting by the many mobile salons in the State and how this will effect their ability to survive.
Please do write mayor Gavin Newsom and your congressperson about your support of these fine workers rights to work. The only professional who is tethered to a job in order to work. I will be blogging my own letter to Gov. Newsom and Sheila Keuhl.
